Biography

Andrei Kalinin has extensive experience working in the field of AI and leading technology teams. From 2000 to 2010, he held various positions in IT companies - from developer to project manager. In particular, he worked at Rambler, Ashmanov & Partners, Kaspersky Lab and others.

Since 2010, he worked at Mail.Ru Group and VK. He led the development of search engines.

2022: VK Vice President, Artificial Intelligence Technology

VK on April 4, 2022 announced the strengthening of the direction of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and communications technologies.

Andrei Kalinin oversaw the projects of the Marusya dialog assistant, the Capsule smart speaker, and recommendation systems for music and video. He was also engaged in projects in the field of computer vision and speech recognition.

2024: MTS AI CEO

As TAdviser found out, in January 2024, Andrei Kalinin, who previously worked as vice president of VK for AI technologies, was appointed general director of MTS AI.

MTS AI is a subsidiary of MTS specializing in the development of products and solutions based on machine learning technologies, computer vision, speech recognition and synthesis, generative AI and others. The company also conducts acceleration programs for startups, has its own venture capital fund, which invests in promising teams and technologies. MTS AI's portfolio includes 7 companies, including VisionLabs, a developer of technologies in the field of facial recognition.

MTS told TAdviser that Andrei Kalinin will focus on developing a new strategy for the company. His duties will also include the launch of virtual assistants to serve the clients of the MTS ecosystem in various channels and the development of AI solutions for MTS services. In addition, the new general director will develop other MTS AI products on the B2C market.

Before Andrei Kalinin, the general director of MTS AI was Dmitry Markov, who combined this position with the position of the general director of VisionLabs.

Andrei Kalinin left VK in 2023. In September, Anton Frolov took his place, who took the post of vice president for AI, content and recommendation services.
