Biography
Andrej Arshavsky graduated from the Faculty of Cybernetics of the Moscow State Engineering and Physics Institute with a degree in Computing Machines, Complexes, Systems and Networks in 2000.
Software Development in CERN
After graduation, he worked at CERN (CERN - European Center for Nuclear Research) to develop software for high-energy physics.
2006: Head of Storage Development at IBM Russia
From May 2006 to November 2010, Arshavsky led the development storage systems in a Russian laboratory, and from IBM March 2008 he was also responsible for promoting innovations from IBM in the CIS.
2010: Head of Scientific Computing Software Development at Microsoft Rus
Since November 2010 - Head of Software Development for Scientific and Technical Computing at the Russian division of Microsoft.
2012: Founding of Digital Society Laboratory
In 2012, he founded and headed the Digital Society Laboratory, a company specializing in social and behavioral data analysis products.
2014-2017: Work in "Sber Tech"
In September 2014, Arshavsky began working at Sberbank's subsidiary, Sber Tech, where he headed a new division, the Competence Center for Data Supermassives. Under his leadership, the center was engaged in the development of solutions related to the Big Data class for Sberbank.
The direction of Big Data is one of the priorities for Sberbank. The purpose of the competence center is to create an analytical big data platform that allows you to make data an asset of the bank, create a new source of profit growth by providing innovative analytical intra-bank services aimed at internal customers, bank customers and partners, create new products based on data and reduce the cost of collecting and storing information.
The center participates in joint projects with other divisions of Sber Tech and Sberbank. For example, he participates in monetization projects along with another structure - the Data Laboratory of the Technologies block of Sberbank[1]. The latter is engaged in identifying the right data sources for the implementation of a particular monetization idea, and the Data Supermassives Competence Center develops a model and analyzes the financial viability of the idea.
2017: NLMK Data Analysis Director
In June 2017, NLMK announced the appointment of Andrej Arshavsky as Director for Data Analysis and Modeling. This position is new in the company.
Arshavsky's tasks include the introduction of mathematical methods for data analysis and mathematical modeling to increase production efficiency and business processes.
At the time of appointment, NLMK was unable to drown TAdviser specific projects that Arshavsky would deal with.
Earlier, in an interview published in NLMK's corporate magazine in 2016, group president Oleg Bagrin said that his company expects to receive from the use of big data[2]banks or telecommunications companies, NLMK has not only information about customers and products, but also a huge amount of data on the production of these products from technological lines. NLMK receives terabytes of data on the properties of materials and how they are formed, but uses no more than 5% of these terabytes, Bagrin said.
Having developed technologies for processing and analyzing large amounts of data, NLMK expects to gain opportunities to improve technologies.
A simple example. To obtain the desired properties of steel, more than a dozen technological processes and a couple of dozen chemical elements are needed. It is important for the buyer what the composition of the final product will be. But, as a rule, it does not matter to him at what stage and exactly how it will be formed. And for us it is important, because this radically changes the cost of the entire process. Data analysis and modeling of technological processes make it possible to better answer this question, - explained the President of NLMK. |
2018: TAdviser interview
In January 2018, Andrej Arshavsky spoke in an interview with TAdviser about how mathematical modeling and data analysis increase the efficiency of the production process.
2019
In 2019 - Director for Data Analysis and Modeling at Gazprom Neft.
2022
Since November 2022 - Managing Director for Monetization data in. "Moscow Exchange"
