Berchenko Novel Eduardovich

Berchenko Roman Eduardovich (1961, Odessa) - musicologist, composer, conductor, musical and theater figure. He graduated from the Gnesins State Medical University in 1980 (department "Theory of Music") and the Moscow Conservatory (1985, theoretical and composer department, class prof. E.M. Levasheva.

In 1986-1992 he taught at GITIS named after A.V. Lunacharsky; in 1993-1994 taught a special course in the history of Russian music at the P.I. Tchaikovsky; in 1996-2000 taught at the Gnesins State College of Music.

Laureate of the Prize of the Ministry of Culture of Russia (as part of the team of authors, for the premiere academic publication of the score of the first author's edition of M.P. Mussorgsky's opera Boris Godunov, 1998).

He is the author of the monographs "Composer's Direction of M. P. Mussorgsky" (2003) and "In Search of Lost Meaning: Boleslav Yavorsky on I. S. Bach's" Well-Tempered Clavier "(2005), dozens of articles and publications, music columnist, deputy director of Radio Orpheus.

For more than 40 years he has been working in drama theaters, cinema and television as a composer, arranger, conductor, music director. He participated in the creation of more than 90 performances, film and television projects.

Collaborated with the Mayak radio station, Nezavisimaya Gazeta, and the Kultura TV channel.

Since 2011, he has been working as deputy director of Radio Orpheus. Coordinates special projects of the radio station, including international ones - Bayreuth Festival, Beethoven Festival in Bonn, Bach Festival in Leipzig, Adam Mickiewicz Institute and Easter Beethoven Festival in Warsaw; responsible for the activities of Radio Orpheus as part of the Euroradio, the jury of the Russian Pure Sound Prize and the ICMA International Classical Music Prize.

Roman Berchenko is a laureate of the Radiomania 2015 Prize (as part of the team of authors, the Orpheus Radio Award for the best implementation of educational opportunities for classical music on modern radio and the implementation of projects, including the live broadcast of the opening performance of the Bayreuth Festival - a joint project with the Deutsche Welle media holding).
