2024: Appointment as CEO of Rigla pharmacy chain

In June 2024, Boris Popov was appointed General Director of the Rigla pharmacy chain, who previously headed the Zdravsiti company and led the joint direction of e-commerce of the Protek group. The change of CEO is evidenced by the data of the Kontur. Focus service, which Zdrav.Expert got acquainted with.

Alexander Filippov, who has led the Rigla pharmacy chain since October 2011, will head a new direction in the structure of Protek Group of Companies. This structure will also include Natalya Burdina, who previously held the position of Deputy General Director for Commerce of Rigla. In turn, Yevgeny Ruzheinikov, who previously served as director of the product marketplace, was appointed head of Zdravsiti, whose general director was Boris Popov.

President of Protek Vadim Muzyaev hinted at the upcoming high-level personnel changes in March 2024 at a partnership conference. In particular, he announced plans to build a so-called single commodity distribution segment within the group of companies. The emergence of a new add-on implies a significant correction of Protek's approach to the relationship between the retail and distribution divisions, which have lived as if separately from each other in recent decades: for Rigla, Protek CV was one of the suppliers, for Protek CV Rigla was one of the clients.

The new doctrine of the group, as the publication writes Vademecum with reference to its sources, implies a significant increase in the share "in the risk-free channels for the Protek Central Bank, that is, in the closely related Rigle, Zdravsiti and ProPharmacy, and the close synergy of divisions in the field of marketing. Alexander Filippov and the new team under his leadership will be responsible for coordinating this work and building a dialogue with suppliers, the portal's interlocutors said.

2025: Appointment as CEO of Protek

In mid-March 2025, it became known that Boris Popov, who also heads the Rigla pharmacy chain, was appointed Director General of the Protek trading house (TD). In the new post, Popov replaced Alexander Filippov, who moved to the position of adviser to the president of Protek JSC on public relations.

In 2003, Popov graduated from the Faculty of Social and Economic Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University Affairs with a degree in financial management. He began his career at Protek JSC in 2003. In particular, since 2004 he headed the pricing group, the marketing and development service in the regional management Moscow"," and since 2012 he served as director of this structure. From July 2013 to July 2022, he acted as commercial director of Protek CV JSC, after which he moved to the post of general director of LLC Zdravsiti"." He led the combined direction of e-commerce of Protek Group of Companies. In June 2024, he was appointed head of Rigla LLC.

Boris Popov

Popov will combine the position of general director of TD Protek with the duties of the head of Rigla. At the same time, TD will be responsible for the entire commercial policy of the Protek group of companies. As Popov notes, Protek is a priority distributor for Rigla, and Rigla is a key client for Protek. Rigla's high-margin portfolio has completely moved to the logistics capacities of Protek.

A team has been created that solves issues of improving business efficiency. Despite the fact that our share of the online segment approached 30%, the main share of sales is the goods that we present on the shelves of pharmacies. Over the past three years, direct logistics costs have risen in price by 50%. It is appropriate to think about how we deliver goods to pharmacies, says Popov.[1]
