2001-2014: Ariba Guide
Robert Calderoni headed Ariba and became chairman of the board of directors of this company in 2001. In 2012, SAP bought Ariba, but Calderoni remained in charge of the latter as part of a German company. From 2012 to 2014, he was a member of the SAP Global Managing Board. The change of head of Citrix occurred about a month after it became known about the share in the company in the amount of more than 10% in the amount of $1.3 billion owned by the hedge fund Elliott Management. The latter is known as an investor activist, buying up shares of large technology companies and taking active actions to increase their shareholder value.
It is possible that Citrix appointed a new CEO under pressure from Elliott Management. In addition, in mid-September 2021, Bloomberg reported that Citrix was considering selling the company. From the beginning of 2021 to October 7, Citrix shares fell by about 17.4%.[2]
