In 1996-2000, he worked as a system administrator and web developer in a number of industry companies, from 2000 to 2004 - the owner of his own successful hosting business. He began his career at Mail.Ru in 2001 from the position of a Unix developer, and already in 2003 he headed the development and technical support of the company's largest project - the mail service. Vladimir has held his current position since 2005.
Vladimir Gabrielyan built one of the most complex technological systems in Runet, unique in its scalability and stability. Suffice it to say that the portal's data warehouse is the largest in Europe, and more than 12 million people visit Mail.Ru every day. Death during river crossing in Nenets Autonomous Okrug
On June 7, 2022, it became known about the death of two top managers of VK in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (NAO). First Deputy General Director of the holding Vladimir Gabrielyan and Procurement Director Sergei Merzlyakov crossed the river in all-terrain vehicles near the village of Shoyna.
During the rafting, the transport overturned and was dragged by the sea, RIA Novosti reports, citing a source in the region's emergency services. After the incident, Gabrielyan and Merzlyakov were considered missing, and later VK confirmed the death of employees.

According to the Union of Reindeer Herders of the NAO, two Sherp all-terrain vehicles moved along the White Sea coast towards Cape Kanin Nos. Crossing the Bugryanitsa River, both all-terrain vehicles overturned, they were dragged into the sea. According to a RIA Novosti source in the emergency services, the bodies of the victims were found on the morning of June 7, 2022, on the banks of the river.
Together with Vladimir Gabrielyan and Sergei Merzlyakov, Sergei Olsevich and Gabrielyan's wife Alena participated in the expedition. They managed to get ashore, where they were rescued by two local residents. The survivors were sent to Naryan-Mar, said Vladislav Vyucheysky, a volunteer of the Liza Alert detachment at the NAO.
