2025: Loss of 10 million rubles due to telephone fraudsters

On February 1, 2025, it became known that the top manager of Kaspersky Lab, Veniamin Ginodman, had become a victim of telephone scammers. The attackers lured about 10 million rubles from the man.

Ginodman, 67, works at Kaspersky Lab as an adviser to the general director for educational projects. According to the Telegram channel Mash, attackers from Dnipro contacted the man: during several phone calls, they introduced themselves as employees of Rosfinmonitoring and law enforcement agencies, as well as heads of the security service of Kaspersky Lab itself. Speaking pure Russian, they informed Ginodman that someone had hacked into his personal accounts and was about to send money to Ukraine.

Telephone scammers lured 10 million rubles from the top manager of Kaspersky Lab, posing as FSB and Rosfinmonitoring officers

Fearing the loss of funds, the top manager withdrew almost 10 million rubles from the account. Of these, he handed over 7 million rubles to a certain girl on Nakhimov Street in St. Petersburg, and the rest of the money to a young man on Glider Street in Moscow. Subsequently, Ginodman realized that he was a victim of intruders, and turned to law enforcement agencies. As of early February 2025, the police are conducting an investigation into fraud.[1]
