Guber Eduard Ivanovich

Guber Eduard Ivanovich - Russian poet-translator (1814-1847).

He graduated from the course at the Institute of the Corps of Railways; served in the office of Count Kleinmichel. He worked in Sovremennik, Literary Additions, New Year's, and from 1840 to 1842 - in the Library for Reading, as an assistant to Senkovsky, with an obligation to conduct a criticism department.

Alexander Gurilyov's romance on Eduard Guber's poem "Toy Heart" is included in the TAdviser list "Terrible and Beautiful Songs."

Huber's own poems, published in 1845 as a separate book, are imbued with melancholy and sadness; they do not denounce great and original talent in the author, but give him a place among secondary Russian poets.

The author's acquaintance with German philosophy was reflected in them by some reasonableness. Guber's main work is the translation of the first part of Faust, made twice: for the first time, the translator destroyed his work from upset that it was not missed by censorship; then, thanks to encouragement and guidance, Pushkina he performed it again; the great poet edited the translation in places.

The collected works of Huber were published in St. Petersburg in 1860, with an article about him by Tikhmenev.
