2025: Sentence - 4 years in prison for embezzlement of 30 million rubles

On October 24, 2025, the Cherkess City Court announced the verdict against the chief accountant of one of the republic's medical institutions. According to the publication "Aif North Caucasus," we are talking about Natalia Harutyunyan. The woman was found guilty of involvement in an organized criminal group and embezzlement of budget funds in an especially large amount (more than 30 million rubles).

According to the Telegram channel of the Prosecutor's Office of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, the 52-year-old accused was sentenced to four years in a general regime correctional colony under articles on participation in a criminal community, fraud, embezzlement and illegal circulation of payment funds. In addition, the court decided to recover a fine of 200 thousand rubles from her and imposed a restriction of freedom for one year.

The investigation established that Harutyunyan was part of a criminal group, the organizer of which, according to the prosecution, was Irina Gerbekova (was the head physician of the Karachay-Cherkess Republican Clinical Hospital from 2010 to 2011 and from 2015 to 2020), ex-deputy prime minister of the region. Other employees of the medical institution, as well as private entrepreneurs, were involved in criminal activities.

According to the Prosecutor's Office of the KCR, in the period from 2015 to 2022, members of the criminal community committed theft of more than 30 million rubles. According to the investigation, the criminal scheme was implemented during repair work, purchase of goods, provision of services, remuneration of employees and purchase of fuel. There were also illegal spending of funds received by the hospital from paid services. Fictitious financial documents were submitted to the Federal Treasury Department for the KCR, which served as the basis for transferring money for alleged works and services to third-party accounts.

As of October 24, 2025, the Cherkess City Court continued to consider criminal cases against other members of the criminal group.[1][2]
