Irina Gecht has been appointed acting governor. During a meeting with the new leader of the region, Vladimir Putin positively assessed her previous work in the Zaporizhzhya region, noting that she worked quite confidently and effectively, despite difficult conditions. The President stressed that, judging by the results, she did everything.

Irina Gekht has significant experience in management work at the regional level. Over the years, she worked in the government of the Chelyabinsk region, and also served as the first vice-governor of this region.

According to the signed presidential decree, Irina Gekht will act as governor until the person elected by the governor of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug takes office. In accordance with the current legislation, the election of the new head of the region should be held on a single voting day on September 14, 2025.

As for the previous head of the region, Yuri Bezdudny, he announced his resignation and transfer to another job on his Telegram channel even before the signing of the decree by the president. The official reason for the resignation was the governor's own desire.[1]
