Leaving the post of CEO of Veon
In mid-2021, it became known that one of the general directors of Veon, Sergi Herrero, who joined the company in September 2019, will leave the post on June 30, 2021. Herrero is expected to continue advising the company in particular on the Veon Ventures business, which is focused on creating value in fast-growing areas.
I was pleased to work as the CEO of the company with the support of the Council, especially in developing new areas of business growth. I look forward to continuing active cooperation with Veon, as it continues to create value in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Russia, Ukraine and other countries, "Herrero commented on his departure. |
Herrero believes that Veon's huge customer base puts the company in the same league as social media giants such as Facebook, where he worked before Veon. He brought the same customer-oriented thinking to Veon. Serhi has done an excellent job in developing our venture capital business and the team leading it. Veon remains fully committed to creating a new digital business. Our operating markets offer tremendous opportunities in areas such as mobile financial services and digital content, and benefiting from this is a top priority for Veon.[3] |
