Quote
The Intel corporation gains income from sale of processors - more than 90%. Income from sale of software very small. However, the situation changes: after acquisition of the companies McAfee and Wind River our profit on sale of software there will be quite noticeable, say, about 10%. Intel was always the processor company, remains and will be it in the near future. We want to change and we change, but for such large company any changes happen not quickly, years and even decades. I think, as in five years the profit share from processors will dominate. It is our fundamental examination and enormous investments in factories. We are able to do processors better than others.
The MeeGo operating system developed by Intel will work with devices on Intel processors better, than any other operating system. Quite naturally to have own operating system. Creating, implementing and operating it we will learn such things which we would never learn, working with operating systems of other producers, even very closely cooperating with them. Doing such vertically integrated solution, we get invaluable experience.
