Born in 1964.

Doctor of Economics, Professor.

In 1986 he graduated from the Faculty of Economics of Leningrad State University, and in 1989, here - graduate school in the Department of Economics of Modern Capitalism.

In 1992, 1994, Katkalo Valery Sergeevich completed summer schools in institutional economics at the universities of Saarland and Tübingen. He completed a long scientific internship at the University of California's Haas School of Business (Berkeley; Supervisor O.I. Valery Katkalo is the author of more than 100 scientific papers (several published in the USA and Germany), including 6 books.

He led research projects for the World Bank, Ministry of Economic Development and, the Ministry of Education and Science Russia Open Society Institute, the Eurasia Foundation.

Scientific editor and translator of Russian editions of 5 books of classics of neo-institutional economic theory and modern management theory. Author of the idea and editor-in-chief of the Russian Management Journal (1st place in the impact factor of the Russian scientific journals in management), member of the editorial boards of the journals "Bulletin of St. Petersburg State University. Management Series and Business Education.
