Mikhail Kristev in 1993 graduated from the Moscow institute of engineers of railway transport of F.E. Dzerzhinsky in Applied mathematics then he held technical and executive positions in the Russian companies specializing in system integration. Since 1996 worked in Cisco corporation, consistently holding positions of the System engineer, Head of group of system engineers, the Head of department of the equipment of activity of Cisco corporation in Russia and the CIS countries, the Head of Department of business development. The department on work with customers in public sector headed 2012-2014.

The WD company, division of Western Digital company, announced in March, 2014 Mikhail Kristev's appointment to a position of the head of the Russian representative office. He will be responsible for business of the company in the territory of Russia, CIS and Baltic countries. In March, 2015 Mikhail left Western Digital.
