Education

He graduated from Lipetsk State Technical University with a degree in applied mathematics, and later - a financial university under the government of the Russian Federation.

Career

2002-2004

In 2022, he began working at Lipchanka as a software engineer, head of a computing center. In 2004 he joined Sberbank.

2004-2008

At Sberbank, Sergey Kurbatov began his activities as a credit inspector of the investment lending department. In 2008-2009, he was the head of the corporate lending sector. His duties include finding potential clients of the bank, negotiating with them, analyzing investment projects and preparing conclusions for making a final decision on obtaining loans from them.

Then Sergey Kurbatov worked as the head of the unit for working with distressed assets of PJSC Sberbank. He developed strategies for the reorganization of borrowers' problem assets, carried out their financial analysis and built economic models for bringing legal entities out of the crisis, sought investors for problem assets, accompanied bankruptcy and enforcement proceedings, and oversaw interaction with law enforcement agencies and state authorities.

2021

In mid-2021, the governor of the Lipetsk region, Igor Artamonov, appointed Sergei Kurbatov, deputy head of the regional administration. He will oversee issues of economics, investment, trade, external and economic relations, small and medium-sized businesses, and the consumer market.

2023: Obtaining powers to digitalize the Lipetsk region

In November 2023, it became known about the dismissal of Vice Governor Anatoly Yakutin. His powers were divided between three Lipetsk vice-governors. Thus, Sergey Kurbatov took over the issues of information security and information technologies, digital development.[1]

Family

By the end of 2023, Sergei Kurbatov is married. Brings up two sons.
