Biography

2021: Death as a result of stab wounds

At the end of October 2021, it became known about the murder of a Russian citizen Leonid Laboshin, who worked at Oxford University, engaged in technologies for early diagnosis and surgical treatment of cancer.

According to law enforcement agencies, a 31-year-old Russian who lived in Botley (one of the suburbs of Oxford) was stabbed on the evening of October 17, 2021, as a result of which the young man died on the spot. On suspicion of murder, 33-year-old Eugene Coman, who lives on Pinnox Way, where the crime was committed, was detained. He was later charged with murder and possession of knives. By the end of October 2021, investigations are underway into the circumstances of the incident.

As the representative of Oxford University explained to RIA Novosti, Leonid Laboshin did not work at the university itself, but in a private company, which, presumably, is a partner of this educational institution for some projects.

According to the information on Laboshin's page on the social network LinkedIn, from September 2020 he worked as a DevOps engineer at Optellum. The company's website says it is engaged in software for early diagnosis of lung cancer based on artificial intelligence. It also reports that the specifics of the startup's work are "lung health," and the platform it creates "helps doctors identify and track patients at risk and make optimal clinical decisions." The company has offices in Oxford and Texas Medical Center in American Houston.

Relatives of the deceased Leonid Laboshin reported that he is a graduate of St. Petersburg State University, and in Britain he worked in a group engaged in a project for the early diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Leonid was a surprisingly sensitive, intelligent and gifted person. He was a caring and loving son, brother and uncle, the victim's family said in a statement published on the police website.[1]
