On the evening of August 22, 2023, the team of the Lanit group released an official message in connection with the death of Dmitry Markushkin:

{{quote 'The big shock for all those who knew Dmitry Markushkin was the message about his tragic death last Sunday. Dmitry, together with his daughter and nephew, participated in an excursion along the underground channel of the Neglinka River. At this time, a downpour hit Moscow, and the entire drainage system was rapidly flooded. None of the group managed to escape. Today we received confirmation of this.
Colleagues remember Dmitry as a very responsible, hardworking, responsive person, modest and risk-averse. He always sought to do his job as well as possible, took on difficult tasks, overcame obstacles with patience and perseverance. Dmitry was devoted to the business he was engaged in, and loved the company in which he worked.

Our colleague was a very bright person and charged others with his optimism. Family ties were paramount to him. He fondly loved his daughter, tried to devote more time to her, actively participated in the upbringing of the sisters' children, took care of elderly parents and relatives. The fact that he died with his beloved people is a monstrous situation.

We grieve with Dmitry's family. LANIT will provide all possible assistance to his relatives. Information about the place of farewell will be reported later, - said in a statement to Lanit, published on the company's website[5]}
