1972: Moscow Aviation Institute. 1978: Military academy of F.E. Dzerzhinsky.

Career

• since 1972 served at different positions in Armed Forces.
• from 1992 to 1999 - the deputy head of department of means of removal and land space infrastructure of the Russian Space Agency. After conversion of the Russian Space Agency in aerospace, within a year was the deputy head of department of means of removal and land space infrastructure of Russian Aviation and Space Agency.
• from 2000 to 2004 - the head of department of means of removal and land space infrastructure - the member of board of Russian Aviation and Space Agency.
• from 2004 to November 25, 2005 - the head of department of means of removal, land space infrastructure and cooperation communications, the member of board of Federal Space Agency.
• On November 25, 2005 the order of the President of the Russian Federation No. 569/is it is appointed the CEO of the State Research and Production Space Center of M.V. Khrunichev.

On August 31, 2012 by Prezdiyent's order of Russia it is dismissed the CEO of the main space center of Khrunichev. Thus, the resignation filed by Nesterov on August 15, 2012 was accepted.

It is supposed that Nesterov will remain in the industry. In the micro blog the Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said that the country does not intend to throw away such personnel.

The new head of the State Research and Production Space Center will be appointed the head of Roskosmos. Terms and candidates for the new head of the center of Hrunichego are still unknown.
