Nisanov God

God Nisanov is the co-owner and chairman of the board of directors of Kievskaya Ploshchad Group of companies. He is also the chairman of the board of directors of JSC Olympic Sports Complex and the VP of the World Jewish Congress. Nisanov is a highly successful commercial real estate developer with vested interests in a variety of other industries.

Status

Nisanov has been ranked by Forbes as one of Russia’s leading commercial real estate developers. Kievskaya Ploshchad Group of companies is known as one of Russia’s 200 largest private companies. Nisanov has been given several awards and honors over the years. In 2011, he received the Taraggi Medal from the Republic of Azerbaijan for his support of fellow Russian citizens. The president of the Russian Federation awarded Nisanov with a Certificate of Honor in 2012 for his involvement in restoring the Naval Cathedral of Saint Nicholas in Kronstadt. In 2014, the Russian president awarded him with the Order of Friendship for his contributions to the economy.

Nisanov was honored by the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia with the Fiddler on the Roof award in 2015 in acknowledgement of his charitable activities. He also received the Leadership Award that year at the Hotel Investment Conference in recognition of his achievements through the Radisson Royal and Radisson Slavyanskaya hotel projects. In 2015, at the 70th anniversary of victory in World War Two, Nisanov was honored for having helped with the patriotic education of fellow Russian citizens and for the assistance he provided to veterans of the war in resolving socio-economic issues. In 2016, the Republic of Azerbaijan awarded Nisanov with an award for service thanks to the assistance he gave to the Azerbaijani diaspora.

Biography

After graduating from the Baku Finance and Credit College and then from the Baku Institute of Law as an attorney, Nisanov worked at the Social Insurance Fund. He then worked at a large cannery managed by his father in the Quba District where he gained invaluable experience in food processing. Nisanov's first business venture was a secondhand shop in Qasaba. He then moved to Moscow and entered the retail sector.

Business Activities of God Nisanov

After teaming up with Zarakh Iliev, another Azerbaijani businessman residing in Moscow, Nisanov began investing in the commercial property sector. The partners launched Kievskaya Ploshchad LLC and started acquiring and renovating properties such as shopping centers and hotels. One of their first significant projects was the Elektronnyy Ray shopping mall, which was to become a major destination for Russian shoppers buying electronic goods and appliances.

Other significant commercial development projects included the Evropeyskiy shopping center, one of the most popular shopping centers in Russia and Europe, the Panorama shopping center, and the Grand, a major furniture mall and a prime destination for the world's most famous furniture designers and manufacturers

Nisanov and Iliev also developed the Moscow automotive shopping center. Featuring unique and rare 20th-century vehicles and a permanent vintage car exhibition, it is one of the largest centers of its kind.

Besides developing some of the top retail facilities in Russia, Nisanov also made his mark in the hospitality sector with several projects, like the Slavyanskaya hotel building, which was renovated to become a beautiful hotel and conference center. After acquiring the Ukrainian Hotel at a government auction, Kievskaya Ploshchad renovated and relaunched it as the Radisson Royal. It was then relaunched some years later as the Radisson Collection after Nisanov and Iliev funded the restoration of the substantial collection of over 1,200 works of art by some of the most famous socialist-realism artists.

Some of Nisanov's other major projects include the Radisson Royal Fleet, a luxury riverboat company that consists of ten contemporary yachts and ten river trams that facilitate year-round sightseeing trips along the Moscow River. He also built the Moskvarium, a scientific and educational aquarium, as well as a multi-functional hotel complex and two international bus stations.

Socially Significant Projects

Today, Kievskaya Ploshchad Group of companies is actively involved in a range of urban developments that make a social impact. After reconstruction, the Olympic Stadium will be one of Europe’s largest and most significant sporting venues. The restoration of the Miussky Depot, Moscow’s oldest tram park, included the development of a massive gastronomic quarter boasting several restaurants, a fresh produce market, and a playground for children as well as gift shops and food stores. Nisanov and Kievskaya Ploshchad, LLC were also responsible for developing Russia’s first agricultural cluster, Food City. Food City includes an enormous center with a variety of facilities including wholesale fresh meat, fish, fruit, and vegetables.

God Nisanov is married and has four children—one daughter and three sons.
