2023: Win at IEM Cologne 2023
In August 2023, the European Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team G2 Esports won the prestigious Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2023 tournament, the prize fund of which amounted to $1 million. The team includes 18-year-old Russian Ilya Osipov, who plays under the nickname m0NESY.
In the final of the G2 Championship, Esports beat another European team - ENCE. The result on the cards is as follows:
- 16-4 at Nuke in favour of G2.
- 16:10 at Mirage in favour of G2.
- 1:16 p.m. on Anubis in favor of ENCE.
- 16-9 on Ancient in favour of G2.
For its victory, G2 Esports received a cash prize of $400 thousand. In addition, the team was invited to participate in IEM Katowice 2024, which will be held in February 2024. ENCE, in turn, received a check for $180k.
The Russian composition of Cloud9, which has former NAVI players, got into the top 5 at the end of the tournament. The guys were also not left without a cash prize, earning $40 thousand.
The Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) is one of the most prestigious series of international esports competitions in the CS: GO discipline. Ilya Osipov is a student of the only faculty of e-sports in Russia - at the Synergy University, the press service of the university noted.
Ilya Osipov in an interview with the Escorenews.com portal said that he does not set himself long-term goals:
There are no targets yet on CS 2. I set goals for every month and tournament. I do not set myself the task of being a top 1 in CS 2. I just want to win more tournaments in the year and so on. When CS 2 comes out, then the goals will be clear. |
Ilya Osipov entered the list of the richest e-sportsmen in Russia in terms of prize wins. During his career, he won about $376 thousand. The richest esports player in CS: GO is ElectroNic, and in general Miposhka from the Dota 2 Team Spirit[1]
