Biography

1982-2022

Damirbek Osmonov was born on January 12, 1982 in the city of Osh. The new acting minister is 44. By nationality, he is Kyrgyz. He speaks Kyrgyz, Kazakh, Russian, Turkish and English.

From 1999 to 2005 studied at the medical faculty of the prestigious Hajettepe University (Ankara, Turkey) under a state program.

From 2006 to 2012. underwent specialization (residency) at the well-known research center of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery Siyami Ersek in Istanbul (Turkey). After residency, he worked for a short time at the Department of Cardiology of Taksim German Hospital in Istanbul. In December 2022, by presidential decree, Sadyr Japarova was awarded the Dunk medal.

2026: Appointment as Head of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan

On February 24, 2026, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov signed a decree appointing Damirbek Osmonov as acting Minister of Health of the republic. Damirbek Osmonov's candidacy will be submitted for approval to the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz parliament).

According to the press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan, the previous head of the Ministry of Health Kanybek Dosmambetov was relieved of his post on the basis of a resignation letter of his own free will. Dosmambetov led the ministry from December 24, 2025.

Osmonov is known as a cardiologist, specialist in functional diagnostics, interventional cardiology and invasive arrhythmology. He is the head of the Department of Cardiology of the International Medical University of Bishkek and the chief freelance interventional cardiologist and arrhythmologist of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The new head of the department founded a private clinic "Bikard" and was its chief physician. In the professional community, he is characterized as one of the leading specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Osmonov takes part in the activities of international medical organizations and scientific projects.

The appointment took place within the framework of personnel changes in the republic's health care system.[1][2][3][4]
