Ostrovsky Alexey Vladimirovich is the governor of the Smolensk region.

Biography

Was born on January 14, 1976 in Moscow, Russia.

Education

2000 - graduated from the Moscow state open university (faculty "World economy").

2003 - the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (university) graduated from the MFA of Russia (faculty "Yurisprudention")^[1].

Career

Started the career in quality of the press photographer and a stringer of foreign editions.

Was the assistant to the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Vladimir Zhirinovsky.

Headed the Press service and the International department of LDPR faction in the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

Till 2003 was an activist of the youth organization of a batch of LDPR.

Worked as the correspondent in Moscow the Vechernyaya newspapers, Komsomolskaya Pravda and also in other foreign media.

2003 - it is elected the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation 4 convocations according to the party list of a batch of LDPR. In it was a member of the committee on the international affairs and also the member of the commission on mandatory questions and questions of deputy ethics.

2007 - it is again elected the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation according to the party list, in it he headed headed committee on affairs of the CIS and communications with compatriots.

On September 13, 2011 - at a congress of LDPR will propose as the candidate of the State Duma of the Russian Federation of the sixth convocation at number 2 as a part of a federal part of the candidate list.

On December 4, 2011 - it was chosen in deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation of the sixth convocation.

On December 21, 2011 - at the first meeting of the new State Duma of the Russian Federation it is appointed the Chairman of the Committee for public associations and the religious organizations.

On April 20, 2012 - after resignation of the governor of the Smolensk region Sergey Antufyev it is appointed the acting as the head of the region.

United Russia also proposed Ostrovsky's candidacy for the governor's post.

April 25, 2012 - The Russian President introduced to the Smolensk region duma Alexey Ostrovsky's candidacy for a statement him on a post of the governor of the Smolensk region.

April 26, 2012 - The Smolensk region duma confirmed him to the governor's post. He immediately entered a position, having taken the oath.

Deputy of the State Duma of Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the 6th convocation. It is chosen as a part of the federal candidate list which is put forward by Political party "Liberally — the Democratic Party of Russia" (the All-federal part).

2015: Governor of the Smolensk region

On May 18, 2015 it is appointed the acting as the Governor of the Smolensk region.

On September 28, 2015 entered a position of the Governor of the Smolensk region.

Public activity

On February 13, 2012 - together with residents of Transbaikal took part to the thirtieth All-Russian mass race "Ski Track of Russia-2012"^[4].

On April 29, 2012 - participated in a grand opening of a fair of the Belarusian and Russian goods in Smolensk^[5].

On October 17, 2012 - visited a holiday in the village Shapy of Demidovsky district of the Smolensk region and took part in a tab of the Avenue of kind hearts^[6].

On December 10, 2012, on January 26, 2013, on March 2, 2013 - took part in the Direct Conversation program where spoke about party priorities, control over officials, anniversary of Smolensk and the upcoming elections in region duma^[7].

On April 10, 2013 - participated in a wreath-laying ceremony to a memorable stone on site of plane crash and in the mourning actions dated for the third anniversary of air crash of the Polish president^[8].
