Biography

2025: Sentence - 15 years in prison

On October 29, 2025, the founder of the Paseka rock band Roman Medvedkin was sentenced by the Izmailovsky District Court of Moscow to 15 years in prison. The court decision is based on the recognition of Medvedkin guilty of the murder of the ex-general director of Digital Platforms LLC Ivan Pozdnyakov and the attempted murder of the founder of this company Arseniy Shcheltsin.

This was reported by TASS, citing a source in court. Convicted Roman Medvedkin is scheduled to serve his sentence in a maximum security correctional colony. In addition, the court satisfied civil claims for compensation for material damage: 1.5 million rubles were recovered from the defendant in favor of the victim Shcheltsin and 4.5 million rubles in favor of the family of the deceased Pozdnyakov.

According to TASS, during the court debate, the state prosecutor petitioned to find Roman Medvedkin guilty under Part 1 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder) and Part 3 of Art. 30, paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted murder of two or more persons) with a sentence of 17 years in prison in a maximum security colony.

The defendant fully admitted his guilt, explaining in the last word that he acted in a state of affect when protecting his girlfriend from two attacking men, in connection with which he used a knife in self-defense.

According to the press service of the Moscow State Ministry of Internal Affairs, the incident occurred on June 9, 2024 on Lilac Boulevard. The conflict between the rock musician and two representatives of the Digital Platforms company escalated from a verbal skirmish to a fight, during which Medvedkin inflicted multiple stab wounds on his opponents.

As a result, one man died at the scene; the second, as TASS was told in the capital's prosecutor's office, received at least three wounds to the body and was urgently hospitalized. The suspect, who was hiding from the crime scene, was subsequently detained and identified as a musician, composer, founder of the Paseka rock group Roman Medvedkin.[1]
