Biography

Lives in Pennsylvania, USA. He has been working in the IT industry for more than 30 years.

He served as senior vice president of international marketing and business development for webMethods (now Software AG), which he joined as a result of the acquisition of IntelliFrame Corporation, where he was co-founder.

He also held senior positions in technology, marketing and business development in other public and private companies.

He founded and served as the head of the BI solutions development company Altosoft, which was then acquired by Kofax. After the deal, Scott Opitz served as senior vice president and CEO of Kofax analytics.

In 2019, he joined Abbyy after the company bought the Process Intelligence developer platform for integrated business processes TimelinePI analysis, where Opitz was a co-founder and served as president and CEO. In this position, he oversaw the integration of the Timeline platform into Abbyy global sales channels.

Since 2020, he served as Director of Marketing of Abbyy Group of Companies, responsible for the development and implementation of the global marketing strategy.

2022: Abbyy Technology Director

In March 2022, Abbyy announced the appointment of American Scott Opitz as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Product Officer (CPO) of the company. Its responsibilities include managing the company's strategy, development and implementation of products and innovations based in Europe and the United States, helping to improve Vantage's intelligent information processing platform and Timeline's platform for analyzing and effectively managing business processes, Abbyy said.

As technical director of Abbyy, Scott Opitz replaced Konstantin Anisimovich, who has been working for the company since 1991. Abbyy previously said that under his direct leadership a system for developing technologies and products in the company was built. Anisimovich led and participated in the development of recognition technologies, which are now among Abbyy flagship products: FineReader, Recognition Server, FormReader and FlexiCapture. In 2003, he was awarded the prize of the Government of the Russian Federation for achievements in the field of science and technology.

Abbyy told TAdviser that with the advent of a new technical director, Konstantin Anisimovich remains in the company and will continue to develop Abbyy technologies in the role of Director of Science (Chief Science Officer).
