Biography

Education

• In 1992 graduated from the Highest naval engineering school of V.I. Lenin.

• In 1996 graduated from the All-Russian Academy of foreign trade of the Ministry of external economic relations of the Russian Federation.

• Has also education of the dentist.

Career

From October, 1993 to October, 1995 - worked in management of foreign economic relations of Committee on external relations of the mayor's office of St. Petersburg at positions: specialist of the 1st category of department of development of the foreign trade communications, leading specialist of department of the foreign trade communications.

Since 1993 - was engaged from KVS in the program of equipment of medical institutions of St. Petersburg the equipment of Siemens AG company. Supplied the equipment of Siemens to dental clinics of St. Petersburg.

In November, 1996 became one of eight cofounders of the Ozero country consumer cooperative (CCC) on the bank of the Komsomol lake in the Priozersk district of the Leningrad Region. Other cofounders of cooperative:

For July 1, 2005 - the owner of 12.65% of bank shares of Bank Rossiya.

In 2006 together with Vasily Gorelov (Dmitry Gorelov's son), Sergey Kolesnikov and Alexander Ulanov (the Deputy CEO of Soveks company, together with Ilya Traber - the co-owner of VIAB Security Company LLC) purchased a controlling stake of JSC Vyborg Shipyard (VS).

In 2008 it was dismissed from Siemens AG company - according to his former partner Sergey Kolesnikov - "when refused to answer questions during internal corporate investigation concerning expected bribery".

According to Sergey Kolesnikov, Nikolay Shamalov is the dummy owner of a palace complex which is under construction on the Black Sea for the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.^[2]

At the end of June, 2010 joined the updated board of Vyborg Shipyard.

For 2014 Shamalov — one of major shareholders of Bank Rossiya among which co-owners there are other old acquaintances of the president Putin — Yury Kovalchuk and Gennady Timchenko. In 2014 all of them fell under the western sanctions as well as bank.
