Today our paths diverge, and Igor retreats for a well-deserved break. Fortunately, his spirit and culture, which he created, will not go anywhere... The test will be whether we can continue to write the same timeless code and create products that are as useful and highly respected as Igor's, the publication says.

Nginx co-founder Igor Sysoev left the company

Nginx clarified that Maxim Konovalov, together with a group of other leaders, will continue to manage the team. It is noted that after Sysoev leaves the project, the culture and approach to development created with his participation will remain unchanged, as the attitude to the community, process transparency, innovation and open code will not change.

By January 2022, more than 374 million sites use Nginx technologies, including Yandex, Mail.Ru Group, VKontakte, Netflix, Starbucks and McDonald's. At one time, it was the most popular web server among the most heavily loaded projects in the world.

According to statistics from the W3Techs portal, at the beginning of January 2022, Nginx accounted for 33 percent of the global web server market. In second place was Apache with a share of 31%. The Wappalyzer portal also gave Nginx first place with a result of 42.8%.[1]
