Biography
2023: Appointment as Technical Director of Yandex.Advertising
On September 29, 2023, Yandex announced the appointment of new technical directors in the Search, Advertising and Raidtech divisions. They were respectively Alexey Gusakov, Valery Stromov and Ilya Rubin.
Gusakov graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University, and came to Yandex in 2015. He developed the first neural network for finding a company, which in 2016 became the basis of the Palekh algorithm. In addition, he was the head of the Alice team and coordinated the development of Yandex voice technologies. Before being appointed to a new position, Gusakov headed the direction of machine intelligence and research in the search division. Under his leadership, Yandex has released a large language model YandexGPT and a diffusion neural network, on the basis of which the image generation application Masterpiece works. In his new role, Gusakov will continue to engage in AI and the introduction of neural networks into the company's services.
Stromov graduated from the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics of Moscow State University. Since joining Yandex in 2016, he has worked in the direction of advertising technologies. In particular, he specialized in expanding the mobile inventory available to advertisers and laid the foundation for the development of media advertising technologies. In addition, he was responsible for the development of internal advertising infrastructure. At the new post, Stromov will continue to develop a machine learning advertising platform, as well as improve services for advertisers and partners.
Rubin graduated from the Faculty of Informatics and Management Systems of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University and joined Yandex in 2005. He prepared for the launch of Yandex Music, led the development of the first version of the company's browser, worked in the ranking team in search and served as technical director of the Joom marketplace. At the new post, Rubin will focus on the development of Taxi, Drive and Scooter services, and will also help launch new platforms.
Gusakov and Stromov will report to Dmitry Masyuk, director of the Search and Advertising Technologies business group, and Rubin to Alexander Anikin, head of Raidtech.[1]
