Biography
Vardanyan Vagan Rubenovich was born in 1972. In 1994 he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Computer Engineering of the Armenian State Engineering University.
He has an MBA from the Boston McCallum Graduate School of Business of Bentley University. In 2009, Vagan graduated from the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Career
- From 1990 to 1993 he took part in the creation of a component base of computers of the EU series and Elbrus working at the Research Institute of Mathematical Machines.
- Vagan Vardanyan worked for BearingPoint (formerly KPMG Consulting), developing strategy and IT solutions for the financial sector in the USA and the CIS. In 2002, Vagan, within the framework of the USAID project to promote the customs and tax reform program, advised the Armenian customs committee on building a new technological platform.
- In 2004, Vagan Vardanyan joined Renaissance Capital, heading the strategic projects department. Since 2005, he heads the information technology department of the Renaissance Capital group.
In this post, Vagan Vardanyan transformed the IT function into a strategic business partner. This, among other things, allowed the group to annually double sales volumes, expand its presence in the CIS countries, Africa and the Middle East, launch an Internet trading business, expand its derivatives business, etc.
He oversaw development issues regarding the launch of trade in new markets, the introduction of advanced platforms in the field of derivatives trading. He also implemented trading systems, risk management systems and a customer management system.
December 2010
- On March 28, 2011, he was appointed vice president of the MICEX, overseeing the information and technical unit. His area of responsibility also includes the creation and implementation of an IT strategy and general management of the IT unit. At the end of April 2011, Vagan Vardanyan replaced MICEX Senior Vice President Nikolai Yegorov, who will continue to work for MICEX, advising the Group on a wide range of issues, including the development and implementation of an IT strategy.
Solving technological problems is one of the most important and most responsible areas in the process of combining sites and creating an International Financial Center in Russia. "It is a great honor for me to join the exchange team, which combines rich professional experience and deep traditions," says Vagan Vardanyan, "I am glad to join the MICEX team at such a crucial moment for the company. I consider my main task at the MICEX to be preparing the exchange to solve technological problems arising from market requirements. After all, right now, as part of the construction of the MPSC, a breakthrough in the development of market infrastructure technology is needed for our country. "
In May 2013, after the expiration of the employment contract, he left the Moscow Stock Exchange.
Then he got a job at the international consulting company McKinsey & Company. Until February 2017, he was a partner and member of the leadership of the Moscow McKinsey expert center on information technology for business.
Since April 2017 - venture partner of Buran Venture Capital and co-founder of the SpaceIn covorging management platform. Since May 2017, he has been a member of the board of directors of Nairian (Armenia).
Awards
In 2008, Vagan Vardanyan became a laureate of the annual Russian National Award "IT-LEADER" in the nomination "Investment and Financial Companies." In the same year, the Kommersant newspaper named Vagan the best IT director in the financial services industry.
