It is almost safe to be a crook now, not only profitable. Neither the investigating authorities nor the judicial authorities have yet been adapted to fight them. There is a lack of literacy among users of automated systems. And clients have no trust in the law enforcement system. The latter come to us: they say, this transaction is not ours, these are crooks, they entered the AWS, signed with my keys, return the money. In response, we propose to write a statement to the police, but not everyone likes this option, because the investigators will probably seize the AWS with accounting as material evidence. What if they find something wrong there? And in general - how to work without AWS? No, let's look for crooks ourselves, give us money, and we will also sue you[1]

Even on the facts that reach the court, very soft decisions are made. For example, a crook responsible for stealing several million can receive a suspended sentence. And a lot of our evidence is not accepted as such. For example, a check is presented from an ATM. The judge clarifies whether it can be printed on a printer from a graphics application? We honestly answer that yes, we can. That's it, the material evidence is not accepted.

The evidence that the courts are used to does not work in the field of high technology. Some others are needed. And no one is ready for them.

2024: TAdviser interview

Today, attacks on the chains of provision of services, works, services are one of the actively developing areas of activity of attackers. If the target infrastructure is well protected, then the attack can be carried out through contractors, developers or other trusted partners. However, often partner companies are not very well protected. At the same time, there are a lot of complex holding organizations in Russia, which include a huge number of subsidiaries and affiliates, and attackers can use the latter to attack the central company. Alexander Yegorkin, First Vice President of Gazprombank, spoke about how the owners of the holding can protect their entire ecosystem from attacks on supply chains, as well as about the pressing problems of information security in the banking sector in an interview with TAdviser.
