Biography
Born February 13, 1969 in the city of Chelyabinsk. His grandfather - M.M. Yurevich - was one of the founders of the Chelyabinsk Pedagogical Institute, his father is a professional builder, his mother is a teacher.
He graduated from Chelyabinsk school No. 138 and South Ural State University (formerly ChSTU) with a degree in civil engineering.
In his student years, he created the Temp Ltd company (wholesale of products), then headed the board of directors of the Chelyabinsk OJSC First Bakery.
1995: Head of Bakery
Since 1995 - Chairman of the Board of Directors of OJSC First Bakery. In 1997 (at the age of 28) he was recognized as the "Person of the Year" as the best organizer of industrial production in the city of Chelyabinsk. He created the association of enterprises "Agro-Industrial Association" Makfa, "now known throughout Russia.
1999: Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation
In 1999 and in 2003 he was elected as a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation in the Kalinin constituency No. 183. In the Duma of the third convocation, he served as deputy chairman of the Committee on power, Transport and Communications. In the Duma of the fourth convocation he worked as a member of the Committee on Legislation. He prepared and implemented a number of significant social and charitable programs in his constituency in the city of Chelyabinsk. The most famous project is the Makfa youth labor teams involved in the improvement of the city.
2005: Mayor of Chelyabinsk
In 2005, he was elected to the post of Head of the city of Chelyabinsk. On March 1, 2009, he again won the mayoral election (57.5%).
From 2006 to 2010 - President of the Association of Municipalities "Cities of the Urals." Member of the Club of Mayors of Russia, created on the basis of the All-Russian Council of Local Self-Government at the initiative of the United Russia party.
Member of the Regional Political Council of the United Russia party. In 2007, he became the only head of a large municipality of the Russian Federation included in the General Council of the All-Russian political party United Russia.
2010: Governor of Chelyabinsk Oblast
On March 15, 2010, President of the Russian Federation D.A. Medvedev submitted to the Legislative Assembly of the Chelyabinsk Region the candidacy of the Head of the city of Chelyabinsk M.V. Yurevich to empower him as Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region. On March 22, deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Chelyabinsk Region unanimously supported the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation. On April 22, 2010, Yurevich was appointed to the post of Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region.
His most famous project in three and a half years spent at this post was the construction of inexpensive low-cost studio apartments for young families. In early 2013, the governor's rating was estimated at 68 percent.

2013: Resignation as Governor
On January 15, 2013, it became known that Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed the governor of the Chelyabinsk region, Mikhail Yurevich. The Kremlin's message states that Yurevich filed a letter of resignation of his own free will, which the president signed.
Boris Dubrovsky, who previously held the post of general director of the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant, was appointed acting head of the region. The President asked him to pay special attention to the support of industrial enterprises in the region, of which, according to Putin, "not everything is in proper condition."
The online publication Znak.com earlier, citing its own sources, reported that Yurevich was supposed to meet in Moscow on January 15 with the first deputy head of the presidential administration Vyacheslav Volodin. Journalists argued that at this meeting it would be decided whether the governor would resign. The publication claimed that in recent years, Yurevich's team had a protracted conflict with local security forces and some industrialists, including the owner of the Chelyabinsk electrometallurgical plant Alexander Aristov.
2017: Bribery allegations and treatment in London
In May 2017, it became known that the investigation asks the court to put on the international wanted list and arrest in absentia the ex-governor of the Chelyabinsk region, Mikhail Yurevich, who is suspected of receiving a bribe and inciting libel. The corresponding notification was received by the lawyer of the former official Igor Trunov. According to him, Mr. Yurevich continues to be treated in the UK, about which he submitted medical documents to the investigation.
Svetlana Petrenko, an official representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia, said that the department intends to petition for the arrest of Mikhail Yurevich in absentia.
"(Mikhail) Yurevich, ignoring the legitimate actions of the investigator, repeatedly did not appear in the investigating authorities on the summons to call for interrogation. He is currently on the international wanted list. In addition, the investigation intends to petition the court for the absentee arrest of the defendant in the criminal case, "said Ms. Petrenko.
The ex-governor is charged with part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (taking a bribe) and part 4 of Art. 33 and part 2 of Art. 128.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement to libel). According to investigators, he systematically received bribes from the Minister of Health of the Chelyabinsk Region Vitaly Teslenko (in 2014 he was sentenced to seven years for bribes in the amount of 70 million rubles), their total amount amounted to 26 million rubles. Mikhail Yurevich, according to the investigation, incited his first deputy Oleg Grachev to spread slander about the activities of the chairman of the Chelyabinsk Regional Court, Fedor Vyatkin. Mr. Yurevich denies all charges.
The investigator of the fourth investigation department of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (deployed in Yekaterinburg) has already summoned the ex-governor for interrogation three times (March 17 and 20, as well as April 10, 2017), but he never appeared. According to representatives of Mr. Yurevich, at the time of the initiation of criminal cases, he was being treated in Israel, and later was transferred to a clinic in London[1].
Trunov's lawyer noted that Mikhail Yurevich appears as an accused in the documents of the investigation, although he has not been charged at the moment.
2024: Makfa's move into state ownership
The management company "Makfa" became the property of Russia. The corresponding entry appeared in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities on May 16, 2024. The court's decision on the nationalization of the company was made on May 8, 2024. Mikhail Yurevich is the founder of the Makfa holding.
Earlier in 2024, bailiffs arrested assets "for 100 trillion rubles" at the suit of the Prosecutor General's Office against the Macfa pasta manufacturer. This became known on April 1, 2024. Read more here.

In 2002, by decree of the President of Russia, he was awarded the medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" of the II degree - for his great contribution to strengthening the rule of law, active legislative activity and conscientious work.
