1964 - For 1980 - worked as the electrician of a motorcade and motor depot, was a general foreman, the deputy head of the department of the Stavropol plant of trailers, the production director of a motorcade.

1982 - 1987 - the chief of SUMS of gorremstroytrest No. 4, the deputy manager of Stavropolgrazhdanstroy trust.

1987 - on a competitive basis it was elected the director of the Stavropol production association of passenger motor transport.

1989 - the chairman of executive committee of October regional council of People's Deputies of the city of Stavropol.

December, 1991 - is appointed by the head of administration of Oktyabrsky district of Stavropol.

On March 27, 1994 - it was elected the deputy, and on April 5 the same year - the Chairman of the State Duma of Stavropol Krai.

January, 1996 - was a part of the Federation Council. Was a member of the committee of the Federation Council on the budget, tax policy, financial, currency and customs regulation, banking activity.

1998 - 2011 - the CEO of Stavropol Center of Standardization, Metrology and Certification Federal State Institution.

Two days later Dmitry Medvedev submitted for consideration of the State Duma of Stavropol Krai Valery Zerenkov's candidacy for investment with its powers of the head of the region.

May 5, 2012 - The State Duma of Stavropol Krai at the emergency meeting confirmed Valery Zerenkov to the governor's post.

Political views

During the presidency in the State Duma of Stavropol Krai Valery Zerenkov said that legislative and executive branches of the power to Stavropol Territory should not oppose themselves each other, and is together creative to work for the edge benefit. Considered it necessary to approach scientifically formation of a legislative system of edge as legal basis of economic, social and political development. Noted that heads of the state have no clear concept of transition to market economy, to democracy. Criticized "extreme privatization", considered inadmissible squandering of the state-owned and municipal property, spoke against privatization of medical and educational institutions, recreation centers, movie theaters, gyms. Said that the mistakes made during privatization should be corrected decades. Supported adoption of the federal law on a special status of Stavropol Krai as the border, needing a specific mode of security its inhabitants.

Valery Zerenkov considered that without production development the country will not be able to be selected from crisis. For this purpose suggested to change cardinally the tax law it stimulated a producer. Supported active establishing economic communications in the territory of the CIS, investment of means into the competitive enterprises, technologies with rapid effective turnover of the invested money. Supported more strict control of the edge Duma of activity of administration in the questions of budget implementation, laws and resolutions adopted by the Duma.

Valery Zerenkov supported strengthening of democracy as source and the guarantor of unity of all branches of the power and management. Considered it necessary to improve the system of local government and to actively implement it in life. At the same time, opposed creation of local government authorities below district level.

September, 2012 - participated in the celebration of the 235 anniversary of Stavropol^[3].

October, 2012 - participated in a number of the actions dated for the International day of elderly people. One of them - a solemn meeting in the Stavropol edge gerontological center^[4].

On November 16, 2012 - took part in opening of the first edge youth forum "Your Choice"^[5].

On November 26, 2012 - participated in an awards ceremony of excellent students, creative youth and young activists of Stavropol Territory^[6].

Interesting Facts

Due to the tragic events in Budyonnovsk in June, 1995 Valery Zerenkov said that the measures for security of border Stavropol Krai undertaken by the Government of the Russian Federation were inefficient. On June 15, 1995 were accepted "The statement of the State Duma of Stavropol Krai to the President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin, Federal Assembly, the Government of the Russian Federation" and "The appeal of the State Duma of Stavropol Krai to residents of Stavropol Territory" in whom the resolute protest concerning failure to act of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation in the conditions of the uncontrollable migration overflowing edge from adjacent territories and barbaric attack of the Chechen bands was expressed. In the document demands were made: to immediately give to edge the special border status with a special order of resettlement, accommodation, use of the earth and the real estate; identify all illegally living in the territory of Stavropol Territory and expel from them out of borders of the region; impose a moratorium on any privatization of state-owned property and prohibit sale of land in any form; involve the local Cossacks in protection of borders of Stavropol Territory and providing an order in its territory; stop genocide of the Russian people in adjacent Caucasian regions, to severely punish guilty persons in the happening arbitrary behavior. It was highlighted that at failure to follow these requirements by the federal authorities they will be executed by the Stavropol Duma.
