Career
2021-2023
In 2021, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of the Center for the Development of Payment and Financial Technologies JSC of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

2024: Appointment as Head of Digital Transformation of the National Bank of Kazakhstan
At the end of September 2024, Binur Zhalenov was appointed head of the digital transformation of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, as well as an adviser to the chairman of the regulator.
Before becoming the Chief information officer of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, Binur Zhalenov served as chairman of the National Payment Corporation (NPK). Zhanar Samaeva, who served as deputy chairman of the board, became the acting head of the NPK.
Zhalenov said that during his work at the National Payment Corporation, the team was able to launch digital tenge and the Anti-Fraud Center (a center for combating fraudulent transactions), as well as scale the interbank payment card system. In the near future, it is planned to launch Open Banking and a single QR code. The first project will allow you to use the accounts of different banks through the application of one of them, and the second - read a single QR code by any bank application.
Commenting on the transition to the Kazakhstani Central Bank, Binur Zhalenov noted that one of the tasks at the new place of work will be "the implementation of the vision of the digital National Bank."[1]
