2025: OpenTips Product Introduction

The developer of cash and payment solutions Somers (part of Softline Group of Companies) has developed OpenTips, a product for automating tip reception in catering establishments and restaurants. Softline announced this on October 21, 2025. The application provides simultaneous cashless payment of the bill and tips in one action. The solution is intended for HoReCa retail and banks wishing to expand the acquiring functionality for their merchants.

The use of QR codes or third-party tip apps reduces conversion by 34% due to the complexity of the payment process, according to internal research by Somers. Open Tips implements the mechanics of "tips in one step": when calculating, the waiter enters the amount of payment at the bank terminal (or the cost is loaded automatically thanks to integration with cash software), the guest chooses the size of the tips, the total amount of the bill with tips is formed, after which both the bill and tips are paid with a card in one action.

For October 2025, the usual scenario looks like this: guests pay the restaurant bill with a card, and leave tips separately using a QR code. In the restaurant service, this seemingly small thing solves a lot: even a slight difficulty leaving a tip reduces the conversion of spontaneous remuneration. Our solution is intended precisely to remove this barrier and return their simplicity to the tip, but already in a digital, business-friendly form, - said Alexander Shpet, founder of Somers.

OpenTips includes the waiter's and restaurateur's personal accounts, where employees can manage a profile, view statistics on tips, averages, and see conversion, and management can add and fire employees, set up tipping rules, track payouts, and receive dashboards for analytics. The functionality includes the mechanics of team bonuses when overfulfilling plans and confirming the model of distribution of tips by an employee, which increases the transparency of payments and reduces operational risks.

Technically, the solution relies on Somers smart terminals integration , with the cash Somers.market ON (formerly SUBTOTAL) and other applications at the request of the client, as well as merchant acquiring the Somers.platform. This allows you to deploy OpenTips in single points and network establishments in a comprehensive manner, without significant improvements to their infrastructure for accepting payments.

For owners and management establishments, OpenTips is not only an increase in tip conversion, but also a full-fledged tool for accounting and motivating the team. In the waiter's personal account, you can edit your profile, upload photos, set up short incentive phrases, for example, "save for vacation," view your tips by filters and periods, see the conversion and service commission. As of October 2025, OpenTips operates in a number of restaurants in the regions where we collect feedback for product refinement, "added Pavel Okhorzin, Commercial Director of Somers.
