2022: Catheter Announcement AcuNav Volume ICE
In mid-May 2022, Siemens Healthineers announced the launch of the next generation catheter AcuNav Volume ICE. The shortened distal tip joint length is an important update in the Volume ICE AcuNav that brings physicians closer to critical anatomy, improving maneuverability and control of the catheter during structural heart procedures, the developers said. This innovative feature helps interventionists and electrophysiologists achieve better imaging results and enables them to better control their procedures.
The AcuNav Volume ICE catheter transforms care delivery by allowing the treatment of patients who previously could not undergo structural heart procedures. These include patients with contraindications for transesophageal echocardiography or general anesthesia, as well as patients suffering from tricuspid regurgitation. In addition, the AcuNav Volume ICE catheter improves hospital performance by reducing the operation time of the catheter laboratory and reducing the length of hospital stay, and eliminates the need for general anesthesia.
{{quote 'We remain focused on enabling physicians to improve patient care with innovative imaging products. As the number and complexity of structural procedures on the heart increases, doctors will benefit from the device. The shorter length of the distal tip joint allows closer approach to the anatomy of interest, especially in procedures on the left heart. This means better imaging results and better patient care, said David Zollinger, head of internal cardiac imaging at Siemens Healthineers. }} The new version of the AcuNav Volume ICE catheter is now commercially available in the United States and is offered exclusively on the Siemens Acuson SC2000 Prime ultrasound system. It is a comprehensive solution for structural heart disease, providing improved imaging and quantification based on artificial intelligence with 2D and 4D TTE, TEE, ICE and TrueFusion.[1]
2018: Announcement
On September 20, 2018, at a conference on transcatheter cardiovascular interventions, Siemens Healthineers introduced a new ACUSON AcuNav Volume catheter for EhKG, designed to optimize studies of the heart structure of both adults and children.
The ACUSON AcuNav Volume catheter is a catheter measuring 12.5F and 90 cm long, which allows rapid ultrasound with real-time assessment of three-dimensional images of anatomical structures.
The new catheter for Echo KG ACUSON AcuNav Volume has several improved characteristics compared to other devices from this Siemens Health Care family. Increasing the field of view to 90 x 50 degrees provides full visualization of the heart valves, which is important for successful evaluation of the valve condition and surgical interventions on it, including for replacement procedures. Better image quality allows the use of a catheter for ablation procedures in various arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation.
Along with the established capabilities and benefits of intracardiac echocardiography, the new catheter for Echo KG offers a more flexible approach to patient sedation. The ACUTEAC AcuNav Volume catheter can be used for local anesthesia while maintaining patient consciousness, which, compared to general anesthesia, is a safer and more effective procedure, accelerates patient recovery from surgery and increases operating room throughput.
The ACUSON AcuNav Volume catheter for EchoKG can be used exclusively with the ACUSON SC2000 PRIME ultrasound system, a comprehensive device for assessing structural heart disease. The catheter has undergone clinical trials and will enter the market in the fall of 2018.[2]
