2025: Market Entry
The Shvabe holding of Rostec State Corporation received Roszdravnadzor registration for the first Russian portable artificial lung ventilation device AIVL-D for home use, which will go on sale in 2025. This became known on January 28, 2025.
According to Rostec, the device weighing 5 kg was developed by the Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant named after E.S. Yalamov, taking into account the wishes of doctors and patients. The device is equipped with a built-in battery that provides several hours of battery life.
Oleg Yevtushenko, Executive Director of Rostec State Corporation, noted the high demand for this equipment, especially from organizations providing palliative care to children. The new device is suitable for respiratory therapy for patients of all ages, including newborns.
Deputy General Director of the Shvabe holding Lev Borisov announced the production capacity of up to 200 pieces of equipment per year. Domestic development differs from imported analogues by a more affordable cost and a simplified system for the supply of consumables.
The device can be used both in medical institutions and sanitary transport, as well as at home. The device provides for professional and home use modes with safe switching between them.
The system stores and synchronizes patient status information for up to one year, allowing for tracking of treatment dynamics. Data can be stored locally on the device or transmitted over the Internet, providing doctors with constant access to the patient's indicators.
The development is part of the Schwabe program to expand the range of medical devices, which includes more than 150 types of various devices. The company also produces optical and electronic equipment for space research, lighting engineering, thermal imagers and microscopes.[1]
2023: Announcement of the device
In June 2023, a Russian ventilator was presented for transporting patients and applying at home. We are talking about the model "AIVL-D," which was developed by specialists of the Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant named after E. S. Yalamov (UOMZ, part of the "Schwabe").
According to the developers, due to the small weight (4 kg), size and ability to work offline, the device is suitable for use not only in hospitals of medical institutions, but also at home and on a walk. The offline functionality of the device is provided by a built-in battery designed to run for three hours without recharging. AIVL-D is equipped with a moisture and dust-resistant housing. The parameters of the device can be adjusted to provide respiratory support for both adults and children.
In addition to its main function - ventilation of the lungs, AIVL-D is equipped with pulse oximetry sensors (monitoring the level of blood oxygen saturation) and body temperature. In case of critical changes, a signal is turned on to call a health worker. The device can be installed vertically and horizontally, while the built-in rotation sensor will turn the screen in a user-friendly position.
The request for devices to maintain the vital activity of the body outside medical institutions - at home, during a walk, during transportation today is extremely relevant. AIVL-D is a modern, compact and light device developed and manufactured in Russia. It is easy to use and provides significant freedom to a patient in need of maintaining respiratory functions, "said Oleg Yevtushenko, executive director of Rostec. |
According to him, the device is planned to be registered with Roszdravnadzor in 2024. The cost of the product by June 2023 has not been announced.[2]
