Announcement of a line of Russian traction electric drives for warehouse and road construction equipment

The company "A priori solutions of machines" (AWS, Skolkovo resident) showed on September 28, 2023 a Russian electric tractor and a line of electric motors with a capacity of 5 kW to 60 kW, as well as a universal controller for controlling electric transmissions for various types of special equipment.

The presented electric tractor Silant "Universal Electro" became the starting point for the development in Russia of a whole direction for the transition of special equipment to electric traction. Having solved the problem of transferring the tractor chassis of the Cheboksary Power Plant (ChZSA) from a diesel engine to an electric one, AWS specialists are consistently engaged in the development and import substitution of certain parts of the tractor transmission.

AWS presented a full range of its products in the field of electric transport: a wide range of traction electric motors and generators with a capacity of 5 kW to 60 kW, traction converters, transmission control controllers and electronic instrument panels. AWS electric motors will be used in the Silant line of electric loaders, as well as in municipal equipment manufactured by CHZA.

Russian electric motors are made with 95% localization. AWS traction electric drives use valve-inductor motors (VID) - an up-to-date type of electric motor, which is becoming more widespread around the world due to the lack of permanent magnets and a simple and reliable design.

AWS also presented the "Electric Transmission Power Source (EET 200)," designed to be used as the main source of electrical energy for special vehicles weighing up to 40t with an electromechanical transmission.

Studies show that depending on the scope of use, the total cost of ownership of battery technology may be about 20-40% lower than their analogues with an internal combustion engine. This is due to the simpler design of the electric drive and its higher energy efficiency. Creating a System

In March 2023, it became known about the creation of the first Russian electric motor for economic equipment. We are talking about the technology of the company "A priori solutions of machines" (AWS).

After successful tests of the prototype, six electric motors of this type were put into production, which, after operational tests as part of the equipment, will be mass-produced in Kaluga at the AWS areas. New electric motors were originally designed with 95% localization, but an engine with 100% localization will also be available in the line, the AWS said.

AWS electric motor for business equipment

The new electric motor will be used in industrial and agricultural tractors, in electric loaders and in other warehouse equipment, as well as in small municipal equipment, electric quadrocycles and industrial electric trucks.

The traction electric drive developed by AWS is based on a valve-inductor motor (SRM). According to the developers of electric transmissions, by March 2023 it is one of the most reliable and budget traction conversion devices of electric energy into mechanical energy. In the design of the engine, there are no permanent magnets that significantly complicate the production technology, the price of which is sometimes up to half the price of the entire electric motor. The windings (coils) of the stator SRM of the motor are adapted to machine production, the motor is quite simple to assemble and easily repairable.

According to the developers, not all rare earth metals are mined in Russia in the required volumes and price indicators acceptable for the production of components of electric motors on permanent magnets. Most are purchased abroad, which, in the event of widespread adoption of electric drive technology on permanent magnets, expands the technological dependence on foreign countries. Therefore, their absence in the new Russian development serves as a protection against external factors and is a clear example of applied strategic import substitution.

The new engine requires minimal maintenance during operation and, in the event of damage to the stator coil, is replaced individually without dismantling adjacent coils, which cannot be done either in an asynchronous motor or in an electric motor with permanent magnets, the AWS said.[1]
