2024: Product Announcement
On February 27, 2024, the Chinese company Oppo announced Air Glass 3 augmented reality glasses with generative artificial intelligence functions. Users will be able to interact with a voice assistant based on the AndesGPT fast neural network.
Communication with the AI assistant is carried out through a smartphone: to activate this function, just click on a special touch pad on the arm of the gadget. After that, you can use natural language commands to request this or that information and search for answers to questions. Users can control music playback, view images, accept or reject phone calls, and perform other activities.
The glasses received a polymer waveguide of its own design with a refractive index of 1.7 (which eliminates the rainbow effect), a brightness uniformity of more than 50% and a peak brightness of more than 1000 nits. It is argued that in terms of information perception, the novelty feels comparable to ordinary glasses. The device weighs approximately 50 grams and measures 164.84 × 164 × 48.4 mm.
The Air Glass 3 model received reverse sound field technology, an open acoustic design with four microphones and other technical solutions that improve noise isolation, providing high sound quality and increased privacy protection. Oppo intends to offer custom lens options for people who need vision correction.
Smart glasses can interact with Oppo smartphones running operating system Color OS 13 and higher. In the future, the company intends to expand the capabilities of the gadget: there will be such functions as a teleprompter, navigation, timer, translation between different languages and a quick preview of health information.[1]
