2019: Agreements on creation of the integrated system of multidisciplinary modeling
On July 5, 2019 the ANSYS company reported that it together with BMW Group will develop the first completely integrated system of multidisciplinary modeling in the field of technologies of autonomous driving (AV).
According to the company, the agreement stimulates development of technologies of autonomous driving for the BMW iNEXT models, autonomous vehicles of the next generation. The system of instruments of engineering modeling will provide a possibility of the high-automated and autonomous driving (AD) together with start of production of cars in two years. BMW Group will implement software solutions and experiment of ANSYS on comprehensive modeling to accelerate software development for check of AD systems on security.
For July, 2019, by calculations of analysts, unmanned vehicles will lead to growth of world economy by 7 trillion dollars. However influence of autonomous vehicles on the person as they are capable to reduce significantly the number of road accident is represented to even more considerable, presumably saving more than 600,000 lives annually. Before "smart" cars captivate highways, they should prove the security, having passed a number of strict road tests on various types of roads and under difficult weather conditions. For this purpose millions of kilometers of road tests in different conditions of driving will be required. Modeling considerably reduces need of physical tests and helps to bring in short terms safe unmanned vehicles to roads.
The long-term agreement stimulates development of the systems of the 3rd Level of automation by BMW Group company (limited automation) and also technologies of the 4th and 5th Levels providing high or full automation of process of driving for the expected BMW iNEXT models which start is planned for 2021. This integrated system of modeling will allow to use most effectively the large volume of data from BMW sensors, analyzing them and creating different scenarios according to indicators of statistical certainty and sensitivity of an AD system. Scenarios will include both standard, and non-staff road situations to provide the maximum quantity of test cases.
Based on these scenarios, software will execute strict assessment of security of AD systems in high-performance virtual environment. ANSYS and BMW will maintain adaptivity and openness of a system concerning the corresponding interfaces and methods of validation to promote initiatives of security.
ANSYS will acquire exclusive rights on technology of the integrated system of multidisciplinary modeling for its commercialization in broader market.
This cooperation is a turning point in automotive industry and allows to position BMW and ANSYS as the key figures capable shortly to turn concepts of the future into reality. told Eric Bantenyi, the vice president and the general manager of ANSYS |
