Apache Stratos

Apache Stratos - the expanded PaaS at which applications using Apache Tomcat, as PHP and MySQL can work.

ASF claims that it "can be expanded for support of many other environments based on all main cloud infrastructures. Provides to Stratos developers a cloud environment for creation, testing and start of scalable applications. IT providers receive benefit due to high loading, automated management of resources and visibilities of all platform, including monitoring and billing".

The Stratos project in June, 2013 was placed in Apache incubator.

Statos provides service, management, security and performance of a corporate class in private, public and hybrid "clouds".

Stratos gives abilities to manage self-service, flexible scaling, multi-user deployment of software, monitoring of use of resources, a possibility of application of any server software for start "as service" along with containers for other applications. Apache Stratos is unrolled based on cloud IaaS, such as Amazon EC2, OpenStack, SUSE Cloud, VMWare vCloud, etc.

2014: Apache Stratos v4.0 RC1

On June 23, 2014 it became known of the innovations implemented in PaaS Apache Stratos v4.0:

• An opportunity to set PaaS over infrastructure of DPC and to create the politicians (who are referred to as with "sections"): this unique functionality is absent in other infrastructures of PaaS and does Stratos by a product of truly corporate class;

• Compatibility with balancers of load of third-party producers, such as HAProxy;

• Support of processing of difficult events for automatic scaling in real time (Stratos can obtain any data on loading and use of resources, including information on loading of processors virtual machines, about use of network and RAM and also the loadings given the balancer and to transfer them to the powerful engine of event handling in real time.
