2020: Announcement of Silicon Apple processors

On June 22, 2020 Apple officially announced the refusal from Intel processors in the computers. This largest change in Mac line since 2006 when the American corporation refused Power PC chips for benefit of Intel x86 platform.

Apple refused Intel processors in computers and will install the chips

Apple considers that new processors will allow to improve the capacity of computers at smaller energy consumption. The company expects to complete transition within two years.

The distinctive feature of own ARM processors from Apple will consist in their native support to IOS - and iPadOS-applications the macOS system in the future. Thus, for developers will write and optimize more simply applications under all ecosystem of products of Apple.

What processors will enter into the Silicon Apple family, on the presentation was not specified. On WWDC 2020 the company showed iMac with the A12Z Bionic Apple ARM processor borrowed from the iPad Pro tablet computer of 2020. The same chip is installed in the set of the developer which is based on Mac Mini from 16 Gbytes of RAM and a solid-state disk on 512 Gbytes.

Apple also provided the tool of Universal 2 which will allow to start the applications created under chips of Apple on Intel. For convenient transition from Intel to ARM architecture the special translator of Rosetta 2 is created.

The first computers on processors of Apple will enter the market at the end of 2020. At the same time the company is going to support the PC on  Intel processors  at least several years.[1]
