2022: Cable for artificial heart developed in Moscow

At the end of March 2022, it became known about the creation in Russia of a special cable designed for the operation of a mobile artificial heart. This is the development of engineers of the Spetskabel NPP, the press service of the Moscow Department of Investment and Industrial Policy reports.

They also noted that the capital's designers spent six months developing and producing model samples. By the end of March 2022, the reinforced cable has already been investigated for compatibility with the tissues of the human body and is now being certified. It is planned that domestic products will replace the imported analogue and will work in conjunction with the artificial heart, which was also produced in Moscow.

The main function of the medical product is to ensure the operation of a pump built into a portable artificial heart and transmit blood flow information to the control panel. The electrical cable is partially "mounted" in the thorax of a person, so experts isolated each conductor with fluoroplast. This is a special polymer that does not cause immunological reactions, as is a silicone hose in which a cable is laid.

In the first batch, only a few hundred meters of special cable. Another kilometer of the product will be manufactured in the near future. As noted at the enterprise, designers are also ready to quickly create similar products for other equipment.
