AutoCAD Civil 3D 2016 is the program for design of infrastructure facilities and creation of documentation, support of workflows of information modeling (BIM). Increases efficiency of project implementation, maintains coordination of data and quickly reacts to changes.

On April 7, 2015 the Autodesk company released the version of a CAD of AutoCAD Civil 3D 2016.


Design of corridors

During creation of intellectual models of roads, highways and other transport constructions functions of modeling of corridors are used. Models of corridors serve for creation of project surfaces, bills of materials, sections and also for determination of volumes of earthwork. There is a choice of the linear purposes of corridors from external references of AutoCAD. Besides, from forms of corridors it is possible to take bodies. Routes, profiles, shooting figures, characteristic lines and the AutoCAD polylines are applied to formation of transitions in corridors and fixing of elevation marks.

The interactive designer of intersections allows to create the difficult models of road crossings which are dynamically changing at further modification of the project. Intellectual user components are created using Autodesk Subassembly Composer.

Functions are improved

  • The Repetition Geometry tool which is used for repetition of certain communications before achievement of a target surface by them in Autodesk Subassembly Composer or before repetition of these communications the set number of times.

  • The instrument of determination is more whole than a corridor on a layer. The corridor purpose by means of the objects grouped in AutoCAD layer is appointed and the route on a layer for its use as the purpose for width and shift is selected.

  • Instruments of creation of bodies AutoCAD on the basis of surfaces TIN, pipeline networks, pressure head pipeline networks in AutoCADs Civil 3D which allow to use these bodies for the visual analysis in other applications.

Pressure head pipeline networks

Pressure head pipeline networks are modelled both in 2D, and in 3D. For check of interaction between components 3D models of pressure head pipeline networks are used. Creation of networks is possible using polylines, figures of shooting and routes. Adding of a fitting and different devices is supported. Access to models of pressure head pipelines is possible from different sections of the project, at the same time labels to data are supported.

The improvements allowing to create AutoCAD bodies from surfaces TIN, pipeline networks, pressure head pipeline networks AutoCAD Civil 3D which are used for display are executed.


Non-pressure pipeline networks

The systems of the economic and household and stormwater drainage system are created on the basis of rules. Pipes and wells can be edited with use of both graphic, and manual entry; also for them there is a function of check of interactions. Improvements:

  • creation and printing of final drawings of pipeline networks in the plan, on types of profiles and types of sections;
  • shared access to information on pipeline networks through the Storm and Sanitary Analysis program;
  • creation of bodies of AutoCAD from surfaces TIN of AutoCAD Civil 3D,
  • pipeline networks and pressure head pipeline networks for display.


Profiling

Models of a relief support dynamic communications with elements — structural lines, models of corridors and subjects to profiling. Use surfaces as a basis during creation of profiles, sections and corridors. Using function of automatic update it is possible to save time and to reduce quantity of errors. During creation of model of a surface for several types of a projection of a profile it is necessary to use tools for a marking of the line of an exit to a relief and projections of a profile. Surfaces can be developed using the simple graphic and tabular AutoCAD Civil 3D tools in use on manipulation of profiling.

Functions of profiling AutoCAD Civil 3D using dynamic interrelation between models of corridors and routes/profiles help with the solution of many problems of design.


Formation of the land plots

A system helps to integrate instruments of the automated formation of the land plots with cartographic data that will allow to study project options quicker. Use of instruments of the automated formation of sections together with cartographic information and data of a topographical survey allows to find the correct balance at configuration of sections between requirements for withdrawal of drain waters both legislative and environmental standards. Having found the best option, it is possible to create quickly documentation for public listenings, reviewing and final approval.


Modeling of bridges

Bridge Module helps to execute modeling of bridges and their components, to place on the basis of geometry a roadbed and surfaces by means of AutoCAD Civil 3D, including a flooring, support, coastal foundations, reference parts of flight and barrier of the bridge. On the basis of data on beams and barriers the AutoCAD Civil 3D profiles are created.


Design of railway tracks

The module Rail Layout simplifies design of railway tracks. Creation of new routes and railroad switches is made on the basis of the directory.


Creation of drawings of infrastructure and documentation release

Standards of a design

The extensive library of AutoCAD Civil 3D styles in which the set of national standards is considered is useful during creation of projects of infrastructure and documentation release. Styles allow to manage in flowers, types of lines, a step of horizontals and tags. Styles and standards can be adapted in your organization. Management tools styles help to achieve their standardization.


Work documentation

The program automatically creates the work documentation, including drawings of longitudinal and cross profiles supplied with summaries and also sheets of earthwork. The development environment of working drawings based on different styles allows to automate process of creation of standard drawings with observance of all drawing standards. Communication of drawings with model is also with each other provided through external references and labels to data; thanks to it workflow which cornerstone the uniform model is is supported. If the model changes, drawings are quickly brought into accord to its new status.

Contents of summaries form on the basis of information on objects and are automatically updated at any changes. Besides, AutoCAD Civil 3D automatically reacts to changes of scale and orientation of types, adjusting the amount of designations.

For effective use of tags of the crossed pipes and types of transverse sections the listed below elements are improved.

Tags of the crossed pipes:

  • Mark of intersections of pipes of pressure head pipelines on types of a profile and section.
  • Mark of intersections of pipes of gravimetric networks on types of a profile and section.

Types of transverse section:

  • Viewing types of section from left to right and from right to left.


Card issue

Cartographic functions are used for creation of cards in which separate objects or data, for example flooding zones, the sizes and material of pipes, types of soil, border of boggy territories and also borders between areas appear. The used styles can be saved and applied in the subsequent projects.


Reports and tables

Quantitative information on model (working lines, volumes, etc.) in real time is entered in dynamic tables. On the basis of aggregated data about quantities, volumes and pickets it is possible to create different reports. In addition to standard report forms, there is a possibility of the description of the user forms according to requirements to documentation.


GPS shooting and data collection

Data access and exchange of them

Reading, record and data translation in different formats are supported. By means of work with aero photo and satellite pictures and also cartographic web services data application from public sources is provided. Import and export of files in formats of widely used GIS and a CAD: ASCII, DWG, ESRI SHP, E00 and Arc/Info coverages, LandXML, GML, MapInfo MIF/MID, TAB, MicroStation DGN, Oracle, Ordnance Survey MasterMap (DNF) (GML2, only for reading), SDF, SDTS (only for reading) and Vector Product Format (VPF, only for reading).


Modeling of surfaces

Modeling tools of a relief support a broad spectrum of data of a surface, including the DEM, LIDAR files (laser scanning), SHP and results of a land topographical survey. Procedures of dynamic analysis, assignment of tags and documentation release can be used for large surfaces and help specialists to imagine the current conditions better. Users obtain information on volumes of earthwork, the steepness of slopes and drainage network in real time.


Creation of topographic maps

Possibilities of data processing of a topographical survey are closely integrated into workflow. By means of use of these functions the approved project environment where points, figures of shooting and a surface are used throughout all work on the project without the need for manual transformation of coordinates or data transfer from the specialized geodetic systems in a CAD for design of infrastructure facilities forms. After adding of data of shooting in the project all elements which are already existing in it are updated.

Additional opportunities:

  • direct import of data from field magazines;
  • processing by the least-squares method;
  • setup of coordinate systems and transformation of coordinates;
  • editing data of shooting;
  • the automated creation of figures of shooting;
  • creation of surfaces.


Use of data of laser scanning

It is possible to create clouds of points, using these scannings of LIDAR (lidar). Instruments of work with clouds of points allow to perform the following operations: import and visualization of clouds of points; stylization of data of points on classification of LAS, to the color RGB system, marks and intensity; use of the surfaces given for creation; information input about building sites; digitization of executive documentation for infrastructure projects. The possibility of creation of surfaces of Civil of points, 3D from these clouds, is implemented.


Functions are improved:

  • Creation of surfaces TIN on the basis of files of clouds of the points created using Autodesk ReCap.
  • Creation of surfaces on the basis of one or several clouds of points.
  • Selection of certain areas in a cloud of points.
  • Use of parameters of filtering for designation of the points which are relating or not relating to the Earth's surface.


Visualization and analysis

Geospatial analysis Possibilities of the geospatial analysis do planning process by more reasonable. The cartographic functions which are built in AutoCAD Civil 3D allow to create requests to space data, to create thematic cards, to execute buffering, trace and the analysis of imposings.


Calculation of the stormwater drainage system

The Storm and Sanitary Analysis program is a part of AutoCAD Civil 3D 2016 and all versions of the software package Infrastructure Design Suite 2016. Dynamic elements of model are not limited to any more work documentation on the project. There was an opportunity to investigate more project options with preserving of relevance of model. At early stages of work specialists can already carry out the analysis in different types of projects.

Functions are improved:

  • the stormwater drainage system in urban development;
  • reservoirs and water throughput pipes on highways;
  • management of storm drains and water purification;
  • design and calculation of settlers and water outlets;
  • economic and household sewerage, pump stations, pressure head trunks.


Analysis of model

The analysis of already created model allows to avoid redundancy of workflow. When detailing the project specialists in real time obtain information on impact of the made changes on the project. The analysis of biases, elevation marks and horizontals allows to reach the best understanding of model of a surface. Using functions of calculation of volumes of earthwork, specialists can plan soil transportation, its volumes and places of warehousing during construction.

The possibility of fast creation of charts of volumes of earthwork at making changes in the project helps:

  • define location of the line of zero works;
  • calculate volumes and the directions of a material transfer;
  • plan places for pits and reset of waste.

In addition to sheets of earthwork, it is possible to import the configured sheets of purchased components that then to appoint to subjects of the drawing estimated cost. On the basis of the appointed elements of the estimate calculation of quantitative parameters is made and sheets form.

Visual analysis

View generation of models of corridors using the materials of visualization corresponding to corridor elements in model, such as asphalt or concrete is possible. Means of the analysis of direct visibility, including exact calculations of distance of visibility along a corridor, allow to investigate 3D models visually. Functions of import/export to IMX are available to data transmission between AutoCAD Civil 3D and InfraWorks 360 software products (English) for the purpose of the additional visual analysis.


Analysis of the rivers and water flows

The module River and Flood Analysis available in Infrastructure Design Suite 2016 Ultimate on a subscription for the temporary licenses Desktop Subscription or on a subscription to Maintenance Subscription service, allows to automate processes of the analysis and drawing up cards.

Compatibility with the previous versions The drawings created in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2016 can also be opened and edited in the program for design of infrastructure facilities of AutoCADs Civil 3D 2015, 2014 and 2013.


Joint work on a cloud platform

The A360 program provided with Civil 3D and Infrastructure Design Suite on a subscription for the temporary licenses Desktop Subscription or on a subscription to Maintenance Subscription service helps to save and open drawings in a cloud.

For shared access to them, their viewing, mobile application of AutoCAD 360 is used. Cloud computing on which the AutoCAD 360 program is based allow to have access to projects from any place, providing all necessary tools for viewing, editing and file sharing of DWG on smartphones and tablets.


Fast links to the given and external references

Work on the uniform approved model provides co-ordination of actions of participants of project collective at all stages — from geodetic researches before preparation of documentation. Using labels to data and external references, designers can work with data of model (surfaces, routes, pipes, etc.) jointly. The same object is applied at the solution of several project tasks.
