2020: Announcement of the multi-user Gorynych platform
On May 27, 2020 the company "BaseALT" reported that it created technology for the organization of the many-placed (multiseat) Gorynych complexes on computers "Elbrus" under management Viola OS. About six users can work on one computer with Gorynych technology, power processor "Elbrus-8C" is enough that all of them worked at the same time. To unroll each workplace, with additional video cards it is necessary to connect to the system unit the monitor, keyboard and a mouse. The workplace of "Gorynych" is equipped with the full-fledged periphery: the audio system, USB- ports and so forth. It can function with several monitors, on them the course of calculations, the text editor, the screen will be displayed, for example, e-mail and Internet-browser.
According to the company, for May, 2020 "Gorynych" is on a test stage. Further start of hardware and software systems in serial production which will be performed by IVK company is planned.
The Gorynych technology is useful for equipment of computer classes and laboratories in universities, schools and training centers. At office computers with Gorynychem can be installed indoors where the employee group – in project department works, in accounting, service of personnel management and many others.
Office employees work with information containing a confidential information and personal data. Their processing should happen in the entrusted digital medium. For testing of "Gorynycha" the workstation on the basis of the eight-nuclear Elbrus-8C processor with the motherboard developed in MCST company and several video cards is used. It is completed with monitors with the built-in USB hubs, keyboards, mice and a set of cables extenders. Depending on purpose of a workplace it is possible to install different video cards. For example, the card for work with 3D - graphics and less resource-intensive cards for office applications. The sound for each user is displaid via earphones or columns of the HDMI monitor.
Jobs of users can be located at distance up to 10 meters from the system unit that allows to organize work of an employee group in quite spacious premises, that number – in open space.
For May, 2020 the cost of computers on the Russian Elbrus processors is quite high, but in process of increase in demand it will decrease. "Горыныч" for the cost reduction account of one workplace will stimulate demand for domestic Elbrus computers. The Elbrus-8C microprocessor is included in the Unified register of the Russian radio-electronic products. The microprocessors and ADP equipment on their basis meeting requirements of Government decree No. 719 have preferences in purchases under the Federal law of April 5, 2013 No. 44-FZ "About a contract system in the field of purchases of goods, works, services for ensuring the state and municipal needs". Software complex are versions of distribution kits operating systems "Viola Workstation", "Viola Education", "Simply Linux" for architecture Elbrus. As a part of each distribution kit – a big set of application programs for work with documents, the presentations and spreadsheets, for Internet connection, message exchange by e-mail, editing graphics and multimedia. To the Viola Education operating system it is also added software for training to programming, studying exact, natural and the humanities, the organization of educational process.
The technology of multi-user work as a part of Viola OS is available also to other Elbrus computers, in particular, for workstations "Elbrus 801-PC".
