2024: Product Announcement

In August 2024, the first domestic electric car was presented in Belarus. The development of the new car is carried out on the basis of the BelGee X50 crossover and is being implemented in close cooperation with the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Belji plant.

According to SB.Belarus Today, the development of the Belarusian electric car began after the President of Belarus instructed to start mass production of electric vehicles by 2025 in 2024. By September 2024, it is planned to receive the first samples for testing. As part of this project, a pilot batch of five cars will be released. These samples will undergo initial tests at the Belji plant, which will allow us to work out all production technologies before serial production.

BelGee X50 electric car

The working name of the new electric car is BelGee eX50. The main goal of the developers is to create a competitive product with maximum localization of production. According to experts, more than 60% of the components of the car will be produced in Belarus. Among them are a traction electric motor, power electronics, a car control system, as well as body elements and a battery. At the same time, some parts, such as battery cells, will be imported from China, but Belarusian specialists are engaged in their assembly, programming and algorithmic.

Alexander Belevich, Deputy General Director of the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering for Highly Automated Electric Transport, noted that at the current stage, the focus is on optimizing production costs and checking all key components.

The total mass of the new electric car will be just over two tons, and the maximum speed will be limited to 140 km/h. The range of the electric car on the NEDC cycle will be more than 300 kilometers, which is the standard for similar models on the market. In this case, the batteries will be made using the technology of lithium-iron-phosphate cells, which ensures reliability and fire safety.[1]
