2025: Detection of a defect in power banks - they overheat and burn

On November 13, 2025, Belkin initiated a voluntary recall of a batch of portable chargers and wireless charging stands. The reason was the malfunction of lithium-ion batteries, which can lead to overheating and fire.

This information is published on the website of the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) - US Consumer Product Safety Commission. The recall applies to devices of the following models:

• MMA008 (serial numbers starting with "57X");
• BPB002 (serial numbers starting with "35S");
• PB0003 (all instances with no exceptions).

The model serial number can be found on the label on the bottom of the charging stand or back of the gadget.

In total, over 83.5 thousand devices in the United States and about 2.4 thousand in sold from To Canada August 2020 to August 2025 through retailers such as Best Buy Target, and Walmart Amazon directly from the Belkin website are subject to recall.

The firm recorded one case of fire in the US and 15 incidents in other countries that left two people with minor burns. Material damage is estimated at $38 thousand.

Owners of these models must immediately stop using the device and disconnect it from the network, then directly contact Belkin (going to a special model recall page on the company's website), provide photos of the device (front and back), where the model and serial number are clearly visible. After that, it will be possible to receive compensation: if there is a check, the full cost will be returned, without a check - the average market price or bonus loan + 20% for purchases in the Belkin store.

Belkin urges not to throw away devices with household debris. They must be disposed of in specialized electronics receiving points. The company emphasizes that such an open policy and a willingness to compensate for losses even without a check is part of its responsibility to consumers.^[1][2][3][4]
