Bentley ContextCapture

ContextCapture is a product for creation of 3D models with high resolution on the basis of normal photos.

On December 10, 2015 company Bentley Systems, Inc. announced the beginning of providing the general access to the offer^[1].

ContextCapture is the first version of the software solution from Bentley company within the Acute3D technology purchased at the beginning of 2015. The software suits any organization capable to use 3D models of contents of the real world for improvement of quality in construction and operation of buildings, constructions, design of infrastructure, infrastructure facilities.

Using ContextCapture users receive the tool for creation of high-precision 3D models of environmental conditions, using the photos shot with the digital camera. On the basis of initial photos the software generates the detailed realistic model textured by source images. It allows to create a 3D model with fine and photorealistic details, accurate edges and high geometrical accuracy. Representation of such models can be any size or permission, up to city scales. They are created quicker, than when using other technologies, the company in the press release stated.

Provided to Bentley the general access to ContextCapture Center service with support of "network architecture" for acceleration of processing of large models (as a rule, it is projects where the volume of initial photos exceeds 30 gigapixels).

The functionality is offered to users of the solution Bentley ContextCapture:

• the multiplatform connected module for the browser and the desktop application for viewing models with function the multi-touch, allowing users is easy to transfer and publish ready realistic models for viewing, as on the computer, and mobile devices, even including models of the whole cities;
• advanced possibility of setup of "detail level" of the created models and opportunity to separate the created models into parts for their simultaneous processing and also tools for measurement of a surface and amount;
• providing a context for engineering and geospatial workflows, including the built-in support in the MicroStation CONNECT Edition application;

In the software solution ContextCapture the new and multi-purpose method of capture of reality as a context for project, monitoring, inspection and geodetic processes is offered, thereby, supplementing the Bentley Pointools and Bentley Descartes programs. ContextCapture and digital photography, including photography from unmanned aerial vehicles will provide to the specialist in the field of object management of capital construction of an opportunity:

• creations of the 3D models which do not have analogs and optimization of normal photos to high-quality texture and the optimal accuracy of determination of provision and orientation of photos;
• high performance by means of multinuclear to support and optimization for use with graphic processors of general purpose;
• scalabilities with a possibility of division into parts of the created models for their simultaneous processing and support of "network architecture";
• publications of the 3D models ready for visualization, using a variety of formats and applications for viewing with the required detail level that, in turn, provides the highest quality, but reduces requirements to the hardware.
