2020: Bosh: the system of navigation working underground is developed

Bosch Semiconductors developed the MEMS chip which allows to continue navigation in tunnels and regions of dense urban development, even at loss of a GPS signal

In June, 2020 the Bosch company, one of the world's largest suppliers of automobile components, announced, creation of a system which should change quality of navigation services.

At the compact sizes the new chip from Bosh will allow to improve quality of navigation

The chip - SMI230 is high-precision MEMS (microelectromechanical) - the sensor which constantly registers changes in the direction and speed of the car, estimates information on acceleration and angular speeds in three perpendicular axes and allows to define an inclination, the movement, vibration or blow irrespective of mounting orientation of the sensor. Then this information is transferred to the navigation system. There information integrates with position data from the GPS system and is used for improvement of data of navigation in a situation when the navigation signal is not available or has too low power.

Sudden interruption of a signal of GPS because of entrance to a tunnel or the region of dense urban development was an incitement for development of the new chip.

The gyroscope and the accelerometer can work separately or integrate for synchronization of data. Emergence of new data type allows to make navigation exact and smooth without "interruptions" and "jumps", at entrance departure of tunnels. In addition to it the unpleasant effect when the direction of an arrow of the navigator sharply changes the direction in a start of motion vanishes. Losses of information about provision should not happen over all way. Except navigation functions this sensor can be used in car alarms, the systems of collection of a fare, sitema of determination of collisions, telemetry.

Bosh Semiconductors already began production of the chip, and until the end of 2020 products of clients of the company will begin to be equipped with it.
