At the end of August 2023, the Center for Integrated Unmanned Solutions (CCBR) announced the creation of an FPV-system (first-person view) for the destruction of unmanned aerial vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and low-flying manned equipment. The range of the complex is 7 km with an altitude of up to 2 km.

It is important to note that the complex can also destroy targets flying almost near the ground itself. The interceptor has already passed a series of tests at the training ground near Moscow, where it repeatedly fired live fire. The ammunition has a limited radius of impact and will not cause damage on the ground. In air combat, it is also very effective and allows you to destroy not only unmanned equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but also low-flying manned equipment, which expands the range of tasks for the use of this system, "Dmitry Kuzyakin, General Director of the Central Control Commission, told TASS.

CCRB has created an FPV drone destruction system

According to him, the new solution does not replace any component of air defense, but only complements them. The system works in the closest radius by air defense standards, in the immediate vicinity of the guarded object, being essentially a close combat tool, Kuzyakin emphasized.

According to the developers of the technology, the main task of an unmanned interceptor is to counter the tactics of a "swarm of drones" when a target is attacked by a large number of unmanned vehicles. It is planned that the FPV interceptor will later receive artificial intelligence to hit targets in automatic mode.

By the end of August 2023, the drone-interceptor created by the CCBR was tested at a training ground near Moscow, including with live fire.

The FPV system is used in virtual reality glasses to control drones. Due to composite materials and low flight altitude, kamikaze quadcopters are a difficult target for air defense systems. Russian soldiers successfully use 12-caliber hunting rifles and cartridges with shot No. 5 to combat Ukrainian FPV drones, Rossiyskaya Gazeta notes on August 29, 2023[1]
