2025: Start of Mass Production

The Russian company Varuna, based in Murom, Vladimir region, has begun mass production of compact floating houses "Campbell," which are autonomous living spaces with an area of 15 square meters on the water surface. Mobile structures weighing 2.5 tons can be transported between reservoirs on a special trailer and are classified as small catamaran-type vessels. The cost of the basic version of a floating house is ₽7,5 million, and fully equipped copies can cost over ₽12 million. This became known in August 2025.

As "Made with us" writes, new floating houses can legally move along rivers, lakes and reservoirs after registration with the State Inspectorate for Small Vessels. A BE driver's license is required for transportation by land, and small boat rights are required for water control.

Kempbot's technical device includes a full-fledged kitchen with a stove, sink and refrigerator, a bathroom with a shower, a dining table and sofas that transform into sleeping spaces for four people. Power supply is provided by a combination of a diesel generator and built-in solar panels installed on the roof of the structure.

The houseboat is equipped with an autonomous heating system and has a insulated body, which allows it to be used in the off-season in low temperatures. Wastewater is collected in special storage tanks that prevent pollution of water bodies.

For movement on the water, outboard boat motors with a capacity of 10 horsepower are used, which provide a cruising speed of 12-15 kilometers per hour. The vessel is designed to operate in waves up to 0.5 meters high, which allows it to be safely used on most inland water bodies.[1]
