2023: Russia's participation in the project
On December 25, 2023 China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) , it announced that the equipment of the Chang'e-7 automatic interplanetary station, created as part of the PRC's comprehensive research program, Moon would include Russian equipment. In particular, a device called "Dust Monitoring of the Moon," developed in, can be placed on board the Chinese apparatus. Institute of Space Research (IKI) RAS
CASC notes that the Russian Federation and the PRC have agreed "to continue promoting the construction of the International Lunar Research Station." The parties, in particular, intend to support the development of joint cooperation within the framework of the Chang'e-7 and Luna-26 projects. In addition, Russia plans to study the natural satellite of the Earth together with China after the launch of the Luna-26 and Luna-27 devices.
The mentioned device "Dust Monitoring of the Moon" (PM) is designed to study the dynamics of dust particles and plasma parameters near the lunar surface. This compact device weighs a little more than 1 kg. Initially, the product was developed for the Luna-25 station. The device makes it possible to record dust particles and simultaneously measure their physical characteristics, such as pulse, charge and speed. In addition, the tool will help in the study of electric fields in the vicinity of the spacecraft.
The scientific director of the PmL experiment, the chief researcher of the IKI, Alexander Zakharov, noted that the device will register dust particles that on the illuminated side of the moon can acquire an electric charge and levitate above the satellite's surface. It is assumed that the launch of the Chang'e-7 station will be carried out in 2026, while the Luna-26 apparatus will go to the natural Earth satellite in 2027.[1]
